Mumbles Albion Under 8
A good start from Mumbles who took the lead early on with a excellent strike from Shane. After good build up from the defence, a through ball from Callum to Jack who after a short run put a lovely ball through to Shane to finish which made it 1-0. Most of the football played in the first half was at the Dunvant end but despite various attempts on goal and some good Dunvant defending we were unable to extend our lead . We found ourselves 2-0 up within a couple of minutes of the second half with yet another goal blaster from Shane from just outside the keeper area despite carrying an injury from an earlier tackle. With more Dunvant pressure this half and good performances from Callum and Danny along with the ever reliable Lucas, they kept a clean sheet for us to make the final score 2-0.
A first class performance from Mumbles which saw a brave performance
from Lucas in goals to keep us in the game. Mumbles had the lions’
share of possession in the first half with Josh, Lewis and Tom
causing St J’s defence no end of problems and yet again we found the
ball hitting the uprights and failing to score. How the ball did not
end up in their goal we will never know! A great display from Sam in
defence with some probing runs up the wing and some lovely passing
by the whole team was a joy to watch but despite the great
performance it ended in a 0-0 draw which was a great result against
a strong team but on this occasion we were stronger. MUMBLES ALBION 0 V 0 MUMBLES RANGERS Mumbles rounded off the day with the game everyone wanted except Keith and Dave! An end to end encounter with some fabulous football being played by both sides which saw Albion take a few chances at goal in the first half but failed to hit the net. With it 0-0 half time and a request by the coaches to play ½ minute second half turned down by the ref it was set up for a nail biter finish. After Albion had more domination first half then Rangers seemed stronger the start of the second with Jack Glaneiks and Jacob defending magnificently to keep the score sheet clean. Late on Albion were threatening again with probing runs from Sam and Tom causing problems but in the end it remained 0-0, a fair result and relief from the coaches!
